Tamil Nadu Road Infrastructure Development Corporation (TNRIDC)

Tamil Nadu Road Infrastructure Development Corporation (The Company) was established in March 2005 to formulate, undertake, implement, upgrade and maintain the road infrastructure in the State of Tamil Nadu Under any Plan, Programme, scheme of the State as per the direction of Government of Tamil Nadu (GoTN), besides undertaking consultancy services in infrastructure related activities. The Company is headed by Chairman and Managing Director (Principal Secretary to Government, Highways and Minor Ports Department of GoTN) and the Board of TNRIDC comprising of eight Directors.

Road Projects

Oragadam Industrial Corridor Project :

Tamil Nadu Government have planned industrial growth in and around Oragadam to give thrust to industrial activity in Oragadam and developed a High Tec Social Economic Zone and TNRIDC was entrusted with the projects related to infrastructure development to the Industrial Corridor.

Initially widening into four lane of Singaperumalkoil - Sriperumpudur road (SH-57) to the length of 24.00km and Vandalur - Wallajabad (SH-48) to the length of 33.40km was taken up in various phases and widening into six lane was also taken up subsequently.

Singaperumalkoil – Sriperumpudur Road (SH-57)

Out of 24.00 km length, 23.50km have been completed into six lane road and balance 0.50km will be completed after completion of LA process. Six laning work consists of main carriageway of 12.50m with median of 1.20m and having service road width of 7.25m on either side with divider of 1.20m width.

Vandalur - Wallajabad Road (SH-48)

From Vandalur to Oragadam, out of 16.16km length 14.36 km have been completed into six lane road and balance 1.80km is in progress and proposed to be completed before December 2019. The Six laning work consists of carriageway of 12.50m on either side with crash barrier of 0.61m width.

From Oragadam to Wallajabad, widening into Six laning of 15.40km length is in progress and proposed to be completed before April 2020.

Oragadam Grade Separator

The Grade Separator work at Oragadam junction along Vandalur – Wallajabad road has been completed and it has been put into public use from December 2014.

Madurai Ring Road Project :

The 27.20km Madurai Ring Road connects Meenakshi Mission Hospital and Mattuthavani integrated bus stand with NH-7 near Kappallur Industrial Estate which has been improved from Two lane to Four lane.

This project was taken up at a cost of Rs. 213.69 Crore under BOT (Toll) scheme during the year 2015-16. The concession period is 20 years. The project includes widening of the existing two lane into four lane including construction of additional two lane bridge across Vaigai river and 2 RoB works at Viraganoor and Kappalur. The date of commencement of project is 17.04.2017.95% of road work completed and the balance work will be completed before October 2019

Oragadam Industrial CorridorProject

It was decided to improve the road infrastructure facilities in Oragadam Industrial Park, Kanchipuram District and accordingly the Oragadam Industrial corridor project was sanctioned during 2005-06. The details are as follows:

Oragadam Industrial Corridor Project Phase - I

The following works were taken up for implementation in phase-I:

The work of Widening and Improvements to Singaperumalkoil – Sriperumpudur road for 24 Km part of SH-57and Vandalur – Wallajabad road for 33.40 Km part of SH-48, were taken up at a cost of Rs.300 Crore in the year 2005-06 for a total length of 57.40 Km including one Grade Separator at the Junction of the above two roads. This scheme is under implementation at a Revised Administrative Sanctioned amount of Rs. 612.82 Crore and major portion of work have been completed except certain stretches held up due to Land Acquisition. One Grade separator at the Oragadam junction along Vandalur – Wallajabad road has been completed and it has been put into public use from December 2014.

Total expenditure incurred in Phase-I is Rs.562.13 Crore which includes an expenditure of Rs. 255.10 Crore for Land acquisition.

Oragadam IndustrialCorridorProject- Phase - II

The work of Improvements from four laning to six laning of Singaperumalkoil – Sriperumpudur road from Km 12/6 to 24/6 was taken up during 2011-12 at a cost of Rs. 86.65 Crore. This scheme is under implementation at a revised cost of Rs. 108.66 Crore. Out of 12 Km, 11.20 Km has been completed. The balance 0.80 Km, held up due to Land Acquisition, will be taken-up on acquiring land.

An expenditure of Rs. 96.41 Crore had been incurred so far.

Oragadam Industrial Corridor Project - Phase - III

During the year 2014 -15 under this phase, the work of Improvements from four laning to six laning of Singaperumalkoil – Sriperumpudur road km 0/6 – 12/6 was taken up for implementation at a cost of Rs. 115.00 Crore.

Out of 12.00 Km, work in 11.70 Km had been completed. Work is in progress in the remaining portion.

An expenditure of Rs. 108.00 Crore had been incurred so far.

Oragadam Industrial Corridor Project - Phase - IV

The work of Improvements from four laning to six laning of Vandalur to Wallajabad road km 30/4 – 47/0 including Land Acquisition for formation of Padappai Bypass Road upto Oragadam was taken up for implementation during 2015-16 at a cost of Rs. 189.81 Crore and 90% of work have been completed. In Padappai Village, LA award has been pronounced and the balance work is in progress.

An expenditure of Rs. 140.00 Crore has been incurred so far.

Oragadam Industrial Corridor Project - Phase - V

The work of Improvements from Four laning to Six laning of Vandalur – Wallajabad Road km 47/0 – 63/8 for a total length of 16.80 km has been taken-up for implementation during 2017 -18 at a cost of Rs.180.09 Crore. The work is in progress.

An expenditure of Rs. 70.00 Crore has been incurred so far.

FOUR LANING OF MADURAI RINGROAD

PERMANENT FLOOD RESTORATION UNDER CRIDP 2018 –19

The work of Construction of Minor Bridge at km 33/6 of Vandalur – Wallajabad road (SH-48) has been taken up for implementation during 2018-19 at a cost of Rs. 4.80 Crore. The work is in progress.

An expenditure of Rs.1.08 Crore has been incurred so far.

DEPOSIT WORK

The work of Forming Northern Access Road to Daimler India Commercial Vehicle Plant at Oragadam (Branching at km 46/412 of Vandalur – Wallajabad Road – SH-48) has been taken up for implementation during 2018-19 at a cost of Rs. 7.50 Crore as deposit work from SIPCOT. The work is in progress.

An expenditure of Rs.1.00 Crore has been incurred so far.
